Outdoor Lighting and Entertaining - the Social Distancing Edition

With the country being in "lockdown" during this time we are spending more time at home than ever before. We are spending more time in our back yards to gain some sort of "break" from the uncertainty. What a better time to create your own staycation spot and enjoy this new found home time as much as possible.

Sports Courts

Some may already have, or are in the process of installing sports courts - with all this extra time, back burner projects are being completed. There is no need to stop that pick up game, or your hole-in-one streak just because it gets dark. You can add lighting around the backboard of your basketball goal, lighting to down light the court or putting green. Need help seeing the slope of the green, perimeter lighting can help with that.

Pools

Hopefully your pool project is complete, or nearing completion so you can put that baby to use! Of course most pools have

lights in them, but the deck are does not. This is where in ground lighting comes into play. High quality fixtures should be used, this is not an area to go with a cheap product since it will be cored into hard decking. These lights will accent the pool deck and allow you to see the area better and create a resort feel in your own back yard - with out the resort fee!

Fire Pits

Ahhh what a great place to sit back, relax, and enjoy an adult beverage. Lighting would be used here to down light the sitting area around the fire pit, or it would be used within the fire pit itself to accent the area and illuminate the Fire Pits surround. Just remember to sit 6-10 feet apart ;).

String or "Party" Lights

This is not so much an area that you use, however it creates an ambiance. When you are sitting under these lights you are transported to another world, you automatically feel happy or like celebrating when under them. When using 12V lights you can hang these over water, unlike the 120V version you find in stores. Create a sitting area and wind these back and forth over it. Drape these over you fire pit area or even over that putting green or bocce ball court. Have a pool, what is more magical than swimming under the lights (just make sure they are 12V!!)?

This pandemic is nothing to be made light of, however it does not mean that we cannot enjoy the time at home that we are now required to take. Many are knocking out those honey-do lists in record time. Remember to stay home, work safe (the Houston Motto since Shelter In Place means something else here), allow the lighting professionals to create your staycation for you - that way it will be done the right way, you will enjoy it sooner, and you will support a local small business

Fall in love with your home all over again, create those spaces, and enjoy them well into the night hours with outdoor lighting.
